To truly appreciate the enchantment of Ignite Handcrafted Scents, we must return to the beginning.

Quite a few years ago my Aunty Terrie gifted me a candle for Christmas.

The fragrance; Japanese Honeysuckle.

I fell in love, dubbed now “my soul scent”. From then I searched at every candle shop and market for more. This one wasn’t a scent on everyone’s nose.

Years later I came across a market stall from a tiny local business with the very scent I had been searching for. I bought candles from here for a year or two.

 

A while later I visited another local chandlery and met the most wonderful man, he spent all the time in the world talking to me about his process, all the tips on true candle care and perfection of burns. He inspired me with his passion in the discussions we had; a lot of that information is still what I pass on to you all as my customers now.

 

I rolled up my sleeves, did a little research, and gave candle-making a whirl. Let’s just say my first attempts were... let’s call them “uniquely average!”

 

As I played with temperatures, wicks & fragrance loads with waxes, I began creating some amazing burns. But oh boy, that honeysuckle! The oils all smelled more like a floral explosion than the warm, fruity plum cocktail I craved.

 

I experimented with other scents & almost gave up on finding ‘the’ honeysuckle, when I came across the Gold Flame Honeysuckle—a rich nectar variety, adorned with vibrant orange petals.

 

I thought what the heck, I have to try it… Hallelujah it was everything I remembered.

 

Fuelled by this fragrant triumph, I ventured into the world of market vending, and that’s when the magic really started happening. I dove into mixing scent blends that didn’t just smell good but tugged at heartstrings & evoked memories.

 

Now, I’m on a never-ending quest to perfect every blend to spark a feeling, memory, or mood, connecting you to your cosy home experience.
